We at Officina Luce always try to achieve the best possible outcome in lighting installation and consciously refrain from going right into luminaire selection. Rather than broadly defining the project outcomes, we zero in on the requirements and follow a well-structured design process.

What Do We Want to Achieve?

First things first, we always get our priorities sorted out before we embark on the designing process. Identification of requirements is a rather broad term, as we take into consideration a lot of things such as how much illuminance and glare is required, what the mood of the space is, things that need to be highlighted, daylight interaction, things to be concealed or highlighted, and light direction.

How Will the Light Be Delivered?

Light output (measured in lumens), efficacy (measured in lumens/watt), service life, the physical size of the lighting fixture, color and electrical characteristics, compatibility, finish and overall appearance are some of the most important factors to take into consideration while designing the lighting fixtures.

Calculation of Lighting Parameters

Easy availability of photometric data makes calculations easier for us, and for all other manufacturers, we assume. Several utilization factors are taken into consideration by our luxury lighting designers during this calculation process. Walls, floor cavity, and ceiling cavity are some factors which must be taken into consideration.


Visualization comes next in the design process. Visualization helps us in checking how a design will perform in a given environment, although it cannot be used for assessment of the acceptability of the design. Light technical parameters, installation information, and fine detailing are part of the visualization process.

Choice of controlling system

The right selection of the controlling systems also determines the effectiveness of any interior lighting fixture. By using smart swathes, daylight controls, and motion sensors, we try to pass on more control to the end users.
